End of season in the party island of Ibiza and it’s in hibernation mode. It’s a pretty town with wide boulevards. There are a lot of ferries to other islands here docked right in town. We were docked three kilometres away and NCL put on a shuttle for €20 return each. Daylight robbery. There was a local bus for €6.50 return.

We ran into some people who had bought tickets for the city ferry for €6 return and walked with them to the boarding point. The ferry which was just leaving was quite small and packed. The queue looked like two ferries worth, so we kept walking which took about 40 minutes. The people we ran into were getting off the ferry about 10 minutes after we arrived.

Once in town there isn’t much here – lots of various standards of accommodation, restaurants and few shops. We climbed up the hill to the fortified city walls for spectacular views but again, not much there. It is unpleasantly windy here due to Storm Ciaran, so we found a sheltered restaurant for a tapa’s lunch.
The town reminds us of a tired Gold Coast. We can imagine it as a heaving, party town which never sleeps. It’s a place for young people!
