Taylor's Diary

Spring break was a greatly needed time of fun explorations and sentimental moments. This is because my family visited from Oklahoma, and we experienced things that I had not yet done while living here. The first two days that my family were here, I took them to the major landmarks of Paris like the Eiffel Tower, Arc de Triomphe, and the Lourve. Seeing their faces in awe of Paris' beauty reminded me of my gratefulness for living in such a historical, beautiful city. My favorite day of spring break was Wednesday because we traveled to the quaint city of Bayeux for a day tour of Normandy. Our tour guide, Olivier Cricket, was a charismatic man who grew up in the fishing town where our private tour began. We decided to do the U.S. Tour because it is impossible to see all of Normandy in one day. The entire experience evoked an abundance of emotion as we walked along the D-Day beaches. I was very grateful for my country and our allies who fought in World War II. It was a sentimental day that my father especially enjoyed. Montmarte, the Catacombs, monuments, and Versailles were next on our agenda for Thursday and Friday. My mother specifically loved Versailles. Her favorite place, as is mine, is the Queen's Hamlet. The weather was so beautiful that we sat near the goats and chickens while we basked in the sun. Saturday morning, they headed to airport as we said our weepy goodbyes. I used the next day to recuperate as my body was quite exhausted from our previous trip to Italy and this visit with my family. I had begun to get homesick nearing their arrival, so this break gave me the piece of home that I needed until I leave in five weeks. This week was a spring break that I will never forget!
