Flinders Rangers

For those interested in some of the gear I took to make our trip successful and safe, here are a few pics of what I have.

In the car, I built a slide out shelf which houses three items:

1 - ARK PAK, which is a deep cycle battery with various connections to power any device, including a 240v outlet. I can also use this to charge my car battery of that goes flat or run my caravan if the internal battery is low.

Some of my gear ....

2 - GENERATOR, 2.2 kw, which can run within the car or slide out. This is capable of running all standard appliances including the caravan microwave and air conditioner. It can also run our Nespresso machine, very important piece of camping equipment!

3 - TRAVEL BUDDY OVEN, which is a 12v oven that we use on long trips to heat our lunch (usually pies, sausage rolls, spring rolls). It saves the queues at the shops and allows us to stop and eat wherever we want.

On the roof, I carry an additional spare tyre (while on this trip I had no flat tyres, on a previous trip I did get two from the same sharp rock).

I also carry a high lift jack, useful for lifting the car or caravan and can also be used as a winch.

I also have recovery TRED's which can get you out of most soft sand and mud situations.

I did not need any of these on this trip though.

On my rear window, I created and attached a plastic cover to protect the glass. When towing on gravel, you get many stones hitting the back of the car after bounding off the caravan. I saw a few broken windows on our travels - this is a very cheap way of saving the glass.

On the front, I mounted a LED light bar, this was fantastic when driving at night on a couple of occasions, it includes both spot and flood lights.
