Ljubljana, Bled & Bohinj

We loved Slovenia!

On the way towards Dubrovnik we had already enjoyed the Slovenian coast and this time we got a chance to see some of the inland beauty.

We found a pretty sweet hostel in Ljubljana - best showers of the trip so far. While in Ljubljana we went on the free city tour and saw some interesting things about the city that we would not have seen on our own. We learnt about Joźe Plečnik, the famous architect who designed many things around the city (like the famous triple bridge) and also Slovenia's greatest poet - France Prešeren whose poem has been used for the National Anthem.

One awesome part of the city was the 'Metelkova City' which was a former Yugoslav army barracks now transformed by artists into a

unique area to hang out with heaps of colourful graffiti.

Next we visited Lake Bled on route to Bohinj and swam out to the island in the middle. Lake Bled was just as beautiful as the photos I had seen before the trip but we were excited to head to Bohinj as we had heard it was much less touristy (we aren't very good at sharing).

Bohinj was both a beautiful and peaceful place - take me back! We spent three nights in Bohinj, which provided us with some rest time - well sort of, we still managed to fit in a full day of walking, mountain biking and paragliding in our time there.
