We arrived early in the morning in Zurich to find it was 9°C and raining... Having packed largely summer clothing and unrealistically anticipating the whole trip would be briliant sunshine, this came as a suprise.

Rhone kindly picked us up from the airport and drove us into town. He took us for a stroll around the city, to get out bearings and to find a SIM card for our phone. Zurich

We had expected Zurich to be expensive but were still surprised by some of the prices we saw as we passed by the various shops. There was one fur coat that was reduced from 21000 CHF (around $32000 in NZD) down to 'just' 7000!

Despite the rain we were able to see great views of Zurich and enjoy a hot drink at the top of the Prime Tower. Afterwards, we had lunch at a place that used to be used for ship building but now transformed into a theatre and restaurant. By this point the jet-lag had caught up

with us, so returned to Marcel's flat to catch up on some sleep and to refresh. In the evening, we had a great time with Marcel and Patrick (two of Sami's cousins) when we met them for dinner and drinks in the city.

The next morning, seizing a gap in the rain, we enjoyed a stroll around the old town of Zurich. We explored inside the Grossmünster and Fraumünster and marvelled at the beautiful stained glass. Afterwards, we met up again with Marcel, at which point the rain came back, so together we hid inside and drank coffee from a couple of nice cafes along the river.
