Road Trip Through Europe

The plan today is to take a bike tour through Berlin. The sun was out and shining. Unfortunately today that plan will not happen.

Our day starts off with coffee and a croissant at a nearby cafe, we get our route to the bike rental place and catch the bus to get us there. We arrive in Alexanderplatz, walk to the bike place only to find out the only tour for the day took off at 10:00 am (it was noon). That's ok, we will just walk around and find something else to do. Well, Alexanderplatz isn't the greatest place for that. It's a sprawling expanse of concrete with little to do aside from maybe catching a bus or getting your pockets picked. Not much by way of sightseeing.

But sightseeing was quickly off the table too as the nausea that had been mildly annoying for the past few days suddenly became debilitating. I decide the only option at this point is to go back to the hotel, rest a bit and hope this will pass. On a humorous note, Jacob offered to go to the pharmacy to pick up medicine. I send him screen shots of the German words for every stomach medicine under the sun. The pharmacies require you to order even over-the-counter medicine from a pharmacist so Jacob shows the screenshots and procures the medicine.

After a few more hours of rest we decide to head back out to visit the Brandenburg gate and boy were we rewarded. As we exit the S-bahn station we emerge above ground to a beautiful cotton candy swirling sunset of vibrant blues and pinks. It was awe inspiring and downright majestic. After walking around the area for a while night falls and we start heading to our dinner spot, Pratergarten. We try to find the S-bahn station we need, its right below us on the map but we could never find it. So we take an alternate path and make it to the restaurant.

We have a proper German dinner, I get the Wienerschnitzel and Jacob goes for the goulash and potatoes. It was very delicious and the people were warm and friendly. It was a wonderful, beautiful evening.
