Road Trip Through Europe

I knew the hangover gods had been a little too kind so far. So today is a hangover day. It's ok, it was well earned. We work out a plan to return the rental car a day early as we no longer need it and it costs more to keep it parked all day. We drive to the Zurich airport and say Auf Wiedersehen to our trusty Golf.

We take the train into the city, stop to get a slice of pizza for lunch then start our walk. We are going to check out Cabaret Voltaire, the birthplace of Dadaism then venture up the stairs to the top of the Grossmunster tower. We step into Cabaret Voltaire and immediately hear what can only be described as wailing to droning percussion.

There is a live performance happening in the back room, at $15 a person and with funds swiftly dwindling we decide to pass and head upstairs to the cafe, which, is closed. So we venture back outside and walk to the Grossmunster, a church that overlooks Lake Zurich and provides a 360 degree view of Zurich at the top.

We walk the 190 steps to emerge at the top. This is not helping my hangover, every step throbs into my brain, but the view is amazing. There is a fog over the city and streams of sunlight force their way through. After enjoying the hard earned view we head back down the wooden and winding steps. We make it back to the hotel and I decide I've had enough, I lay down and commence the relaxing. Jacob heads off to The International. A microbrew beer bar for the serious beer drinker.

Jacob makes it back to the hotel with pad thai and a can of Coca-Cola for me and I have never loved him more. We end our last evening packing our bags for the last time then watching Better Call Saul in the iPad. We are ready to come but sad that this incredible trip is coming to an end. Tschüss Europe!
