I traveled into the Steppes with the Mongols just as their cold Asian winter was beginning. It seemed like no matter how many coats I would wear I could never get warm. I poured hot water onto my face and it froze in my beard. I traveled with the Mongols for a few months and saw the aftermath of their conquest,which was truly horrifying.
