ME AND TWO WOMEN AKA TRAVELS WITH SHIRLEY AND CARROLL

So, the three of us take Uber to PDX with a Kurdish driver from Iran, a naturalized citizen, who talked, almost non-stop, the entire 40 minute drive. But far better than taking a taxi or having to depend on someone else.

Delta flight leaves on time and we settle in for the nine plus hour ride to Amsterdam and from there to our 40 minute flight to Paris. The food was actually pretty tasty, considering it was airplane food. The flight was full, of course, and pretty much just a long damn ride, until...we started our approach to Amsterdam. They were having torrential rain and the turbulence was abundant during the last half hour. Of course, because of the inclement weather we were a little late from our announced time although still ahead of our scheduled time that allowed us one hour to make the transfer, go through customs and get to the correct gate. This is one big darn airport, I think it must take up half the country, so of course, after we land we taxi for 15 minutes. We pile off the plane at gate D40 something and our connecting flight is at gate C5. A good long trek. We get to gate D8 and then have to go through customs with 300 of our closest friends. We clear the custom hurdle, get our passport stamped and rush down to C5...only to find the connecting flight is delayed an hour. Anyway, get to Paris, have a really great taxi driver, and it's a fixed fare from the airport to Paris of 50 Euros for up to three people!!! Traffic isn't too bad until the city proper but we find our flat.

Let's just say the pics on the website of the place and the condition of the flat are not too similar, the flat is, as Shirley says "charming" or as I would say "well worn". I'll post some pics later of the place. We are all tired, the ladies both sleep for two hours but I am not able to nod off.

At 5pm we walk right next door and have a light supper at an Indian restaurant. Its not bad. I go to bed at 7pm after having been awake for 26 hours.
