Beautiful sunset greets us as we wake from a not too blissful sleep but not too bad. Seems as though there was a wedding party up the hill and they sure do like the sing-alongs and the accordion music, they got progressively louder and worse through the night. Wish them all the headache from hell. But, onward.
We romp and stomp down the steps into old town for some brunch. We eat at the baggage lady restaurant. I decide to have a hamburger, Shirley has seafood risotto and Carroll has a chicken salad, the Clappertons had eaten breakfast so they had a sumptuous lot of a
cappuccino and a coke.
The decision has been made to visit a local church and then take an open air bus tour of the region for about 11/2 hours. The church was more ornate than previously, but still not up to the grandeur of Iberian churches.
The bus tour was OK but without narration, it provided a good overview of the vicinity but not a wonderful experience. The water in the Adriatic is so clear and blue. The water reminds me of a combination of Lake Tahoe clarity and the color found in some parts of the Caribbean. There are a couple of large cruise boats parked here so that accounts for the crowds, and there are CROWDS. Happily the bus driver is buzzing right by the 600 steps below where we are staying, so he lets us out which means we don't have to pay for a taxi from Old Town back up the hill. (Should say that the 600 steps are
only about 80 but uphill).
The Clappertons are coming by for some snacks and then we are going to walk down the hill into town and have supper at the same place as last night with the addition of a couple from our church, St. James, who are here on a bicycle tour. Ron and Sue..sorry they have different last names and I can't remember either. Onward!!!
We walk down the hill and have a good supper at the Proto restaurant again with The Clappertons and Ron and Sue. Supper is good. I have lamb chops with 6 oysters as a appetizer and some chocolate mousse. We walk back though the town, it is very crowded, and wait around to find a taxi but finally decide on taking two.
