Gary & Helene in Vietnam & Bali

A FUN day. Everyone here is preparing for Tet or Vietnamese New Year, it is the most important celebration of Vietnamese culture.
There are lanterns & lights being hung, indoors and out. Tet begins on Feb. 7th, but the Celebration begins in the eve, and there is to be fireworks at midnight! We get to celebrate New Years twice in 2016!

Hanoi, Vietnam

The big surprise was learning to cross the street. It took Gary & I some time to absorb and learn. We stood at the crosswalk, on the edge of the somewhat-sidewalk and watched people walk courageously into 4 lanes of two-way, scooter & vehicle traffic! Traffic does NOT stop for pedestrians here. No, no. AND we have never been

taught how to walk INTO traffic?! Don't zig, zag, pause, or step back....commit and keep moving forward.....the traffic will miraculously move around you.

Weather: cooler than thought, 16 degrees during the day, 13 at night. Wearing every layer of wool I have. :)
