The assasination of King Philip was an unfortunate event that happened for the macedonians, Greece was unrested while the Athenians rejoiced. At this time Alexander the great knew he had to get Macedonia back in order knowing that his father would wish him to do so. He had to stay strong and gain redemption from this tragic event. Alexander made a decision to separate Greece from Macedonia and made this clear with King Darius of persia. The greek city states were imbalanced and rebelled against each other. Many Macedonians continued to fight for redemption and fight for their beliefs. Many enemy soldiers surrendered to the Macedonians when they knew they were outnumbered.
Although this may have been true, the people of Greece retaliated against each other and against Alexander and the Macedonians showing their undying loyalty for king darius and the persian empire.
50,000 Greeks were what Alexander and the Macedonians were up against. Alexander made it clear that Macedonian was a separate language from everything else so his argument was if the people were going to choose macedonian as their native language. Or if they were going to choose not to use it as their native language and be judged by the macedonian law which states that whoever chooses to retaliate against the king were to be executed. Alexander had put this pressure on the people to bring them into submission, there needed to be a new order for the people of Greece and throughout Macedonia which he knew required force and good tactics.
