Finally able to pull her out for a road test! We spent three days packing her up and getting "road worthy" with all of the things we purchased on Amazon. It was like Christmas!! The things that I brought with me from Juneau that I knew I could use were put in place, a few decorations were added to make her look pretty and then we were off! We were so glad to spend time with the Louisville Meier's and now off to the Roanoke Meier's with a stop along the way. Since we weren't yet sure how many hours a day we could pull the rv, we split the distance in half and planned for a stop in Point Pleasant, West Virginia, home of the Mothman. Bill's story:

Sharon and I traveled to Point Pleasant, West Virginia, for the day to investigate the Mothman. This creature was first sighted in 1966, one year prior to the collapse of the Silver Bridge in 1967 which resulted in 46 fatalities. It is believed that the Mothman was either a harbinger of the tragedy or was there to warn people of the imminent collapse. The creature is described as human-like with wings and glowing red eyes. A fairly interesting and somewhat accurate description of the story is described in a book and movie titled "The Mothman Prophecies" (the movie starred Richard Gere and is worthy of watching). We began our investigation by traveling to the location of an abandoned munitions plant where people have witnessed the appearance of the Mothman. This area is largely wooded and is now designated as a wildlife refuge but houses abandoned TNT munitions storage units. The woods were quiet as we walked down
the overgrown roadway, probably not the smartest thing to do at dusk. Many trails led off to who knows where and, after hiking about a mile in the extreme quiet (no birds or other sounds) and not wishing to observe anything unusual (like the Mothman!), we happily returned to the truck.
Point Pleasant hosts an annual week-long "Mothman" Festival every September and Bill is looking forward to returning at some point for further investigation!
We were able to move in that night and out the next morning without problem, then traveled to the Republic of Floyd, just south of Roanoke. The kids met us on Friday night where we enjoyed a Mexican chicken dish for dinner that I had cooked in the Crockpot overnight and left in the fridge, then reheated. Rain had followed us throughout the weekend but we did get little Ben to the pumpkin patch and a ride on the tractor followed by a Packer game.
