When I was under the roof of the structure, I saw the 357 mirrors within the halls. I also learned that everything that was used to build the structure was made in France and nothing was exported. I learned from a fellow tourist that both Peach Treaties of Paris were signed at Versailles. The gardens of Versailles included 400 sculptures and 1,400 fountains on the land of over 30,000 acres. The grand canal, to the west of the garden, about a mile in length, was used for the purpose of naval demonstrations. The mile long canal was also used as a travel method to reach the other end where he had a private retreat for those with a special invite.
During the French Revolution it was the home of more than 60,000 people, making it one of the largest centers in France. I learned that the French government was moved to Versailles. King Louis insisted to move the government. This offered him protection being slightly distant from the capital. This move made it slightly inconvenient for the nobles, but this was a goal of the King. As I entered the Versailles, I was shocked. I now understand why there is so much discussion over the art style of the interior. Versailles is an example of baroque and rococo architecture. The French people, at the time, considered it baroque. This palace was known to evoke Italian baroque architecture. The King would not be happy to hear that as he believed in absolutism. Some people in the art industry consider the style as French classicism.
