The Royal Chateau was built in 1624 in the city of Versailles. It was originally built with the purpose of a small hunting lodge but with many dramatic expansions over the years. King Louis XIV had the responsibility of the build. During the French Revolution, this palace was home of the French monarchy during the reign of Louis XIV. The palace was also the residence of Louis XVI. The palace was later abandoned by the royal family in 1789.
