When I visited Fort Saint Nicolas, I was shocked by the very few visitors that I was surrounded by. I was shocked to learn that the building was used to protect the city from the people of Marseille and their aggressive attitudes. I thought the purpose of the Fort was to protect the city from invasions being that it was on the edge of land near water.
