The architects added the spired dome to the Pantheon which was not influenced by Rome. The outside of the temple features neoclassical façade, while the inside features impressive and dramatic Gothic interiors. Both express two different styles. Since the French Revolution occurred, the purpose of the structure had changed slightly. The structure was known for its impressive art. French history, such as the French Revolution were used as inspiration for the frescoes, mosaics, and paintings. The Pantheon became a symbol of the monarchy. Following the Revolution, the government took power of transforming it into a place to honor those that had died during battle for the future of France. I learned that an experiment was conducted by Foucault in 1851. He goal was to prove that the rotation of the world is on an axis. He built an iron pendulum in the Pantheon and successfully proved his point. His structure that was built was then moved to the National Conservatory of Arts and Crafts for display and a replica remained at the Pantheon for display. Many of the other people visiting the Pantheon were tourists from other countries. I heard many other people asking questions and curiously sharing facts around the temple.
