Today we will finally go to Barcelona. Although this is La Aventura de el Nino y Su Madre en Barcelona, Espania, we actually haven't set foot in the place. But no more! Onto the subway and into the city we go.

Our first stop is the Block of Discord. This is a city block with three exceptional architectural masterpieces. All extremely weird. My favorite is Casa Batillo which is reminiscent of a dragon slaying its victims.

Barcelona, Spain

Today we will finally go to Barcelona. Although this is La Aventura de el Nino y Su Madre en Barcelona, Espania, we actually haven't set foot in the place. But no more! Onto the subway and into the city we go.

Our first stop is the Block of Discord. This is a city block with three exceptional architectural masterpieces. All extremely weird. My favorite is Casa Batillo which is reminiscent of a dragon slaying its victims.

We walk on to the Bari Gotic (Gothic Quarter). This section of Barcelona twists and turns with ancient buildings (some over 500 years old). We do a little parkour, eat some tapas, and enjoy the adventure.

Then on to the Parc de la Ciutadella. This park was a fortress established by Spain when it overtook Catalunya in 1714. Finally, in 1841 the city's authorities decided to destroy the fortress, which was hated by Barcelona's citizens. Today it is an amazing park, similar to Central Park in NYC.

Before leaving the city, we head to the Sagrada Familia. At first, we can't find it, which is bizarre because the unfinished church is the most popular tourist destination in all of Spain. 28 million visitors a year. Antoni Gaudí devoted the remainder of his life to the project,

and at the time of his death at age 73 in 1926, less than a quarter of the project was complete. It is still a construction site today. The gigantic church will house 13,000 congregants when complete. Here's a picture of it in 1905 and one from today.

When we finally come to a corner and look up... BAM the building is beyond words. Just go see it. Humans with a vision can Get...Some...Sh*t...Done. So, with the Blooms finally seeing the Sagrada Familia we can say we are in Spain for reals. Wow.
