CARA Trip to Spain & Portugal

Today was a quiet transportation day taking us from Madrid to Lisbon. The long bus ride gave everyone a chance to rest and relax and get a day with some downtime. After the busy days I think everyone needed this break. The first half of the drive was very quiet as all the boys were watching movies or sleeping.

We stopped for lunch in Trujillo, which was a charming, quintessential European town. It only has 9,000 residents and is about half way between Madrid and Lisbon, making it a popular stop for lunch on the journey. The town lived up to that reputation with more restaurants in the town square than anything else. Being so remote, it was more challenging finding wait staff that speaks English. That just makes for a more authentic experience, right?

Despite those complications, everyone took full advantage of the two hours to sit, enjoy a meal (and some cerveza and sangria) and enjoy the company of their lunch mates. We have had the most spectacular weather this week - upper 70s/low 80s - and today was no exception. It made for the perfect way to enjoy an outdoor meal in a beautiful town.
