The 02 and 03 Capital Area Railhawks Academy players have a busy week ahead of them as they venture off to Spain and Portugal.

The action packed itinerary includes three professional soccer matches which are sure to be a highlight. Saturday brings on the Madrid Derby between Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid. And if that wasn’t enough, on Wednesday night the lucky Academy players get to attend the first leg of the Champions League quarterfinal match between Leicester City and Atletico Madrid. The trip winds up with one final professional match - SL Benfica vs CS Maritimo.

The teams will also get their own fair share of play time during three competitive matches with local Spanish and Portuguese Academy teams, as well as training sessions nearly every day. Throw in a little site seeing and this is sure to be the trip of a lifetime!

Things got started on Friday afternoon as both teams checked in to the airport at RDU. With a 2.5 hour wait until their flight to Philadelphia took off, the boys made good use of the time hanging out, listening to music and even a bit of “gambling” with Skittles currency to pass the time.
