I must try to keep my diary up to date it is amazing how one day runs into the next. This was the day we were going up to a glacier and walk on the ice. Jenny Pete and I had a quick bite to eat by the lake before we said our goodbyes to Lake Louise and hopped on the bus for another adventure packed day. A drive by Lake Hector and the Crowfoot Glacier. The first stop was Lake Bow. Once again so lucky with the weather the reflection of the Bow Glacier was incredible. Even the bus driver commented that it was the first time this summer he had seen it so calm. Next to Lake Peyto known for its lovely blue green colour. The rocks grind together creating the equivalent of glacier sawdust turning the water this colour. The tour then took us along the Icefields Pathway one if the most scenic highways. All dressed in our winter clothing and excited to be going up onto the Columbian Icefield, however, with it being such a perfect day we could have just been in summer clothing. The trip up to the Athabasca Glacier on the Ice Explorer was an adventure on its own. Incredible machine with the way it went up and down such severe slops. Several of these were operating and each had a price tag of $1.2million. Unfortunately we were not on the ice for very long however it was incredible being able to take in the vastness of it all, surrounded by four other glaciers. Our last stop for the day Athabasca Falls. Another day another hotel the Fairmont Jasper Lodge. A very different hotel made up of individual lodges around the lake. We were here for a two night stay which was nice. A rather long drink and nibbles session in my room so we decided to have a meal in one of the hotel restaurants looking out over the lake.
