Moments in Maldives

Finally we've landed! After (literally) spending a day on the plane, I am exhausted! The air though...oddly..smells really good. And who's calling my name? Never mind I must get past customs, on a van, then on a boat to my resort. From the looks of the airport, I might actually like it here!

Later that Day
This place is like pure heaven! From stepping out of the airport, I never felt alone as the people were very friendly, wring leis around my neck, and directing me to where I was suppose to go.
After paying my free fare, I got off the van and step onto a boat no bigger than the usual sail, which glided smoothly across the blue waters. And the shades! All ranging from the lightest of light, to the darkest of dark, were just beautiful!

I got to the resort, a small spectacle of a place, desolate except for a few relaxed travelers. I was quietly escorted to my bungalow which held delicious treats, and an incredible view!

Male International Airport

I write this entry now, littered by wrappers, on the balcony of my

porch, listening to the waves. To think, this is only costing me 165 dollars per night.

Today was one of relaxation for me. After adjusting to the 10 hour jet lag, I wandered around the resort stopping to treat myself to a bamboo massage, and pedicure. Through the afternoon, I ode a small boat which transported I, and others, through light waters where dolphins rested. All in all it was a very good day.

The people here are so very polite. Today for instance, a native man dropped roses at my door, complimentary of the people in the nearby village, while hotel staff regularly checked in on me without being too bothersome.
I was able to see more of the people today as I sat aboard the Four

Seasons Explorer Liveaboard Luxury Catamaran, which carted me around all day. The boat steadily explored the hidden caves, abundant with the natural medicines used in Maldivian culture. I was able to distinguish between the demographics, as I saw the reality of those not living in the resorts. The white, sandy beaches turned brown, an became littered with garbage. The once lush palm trees dropped and sagged under the weight of empty fruit.

The people however, especially the children looked in awe as the ship passed their small towns. I saw women, nearly as dark as me, wearing nearly nothing as they hauled water on their heads, and older men meditating on their small chunks of sand. We stopped in one of these towns, villages of sorts for dinner. Quietly I examined all of the area, taking in the smells, and stares of the natives. After finishing a soup, and tea I watched a small meditation show, then finally I walked, relaxed, back to the boat, my camera full, my mind cultured.

I Scuba Dived today! Under the lead of a resident Marine Biologist, I was taken beneath the waves and into the shiny corals of the Maldivian sea. I saw all types of exotic creatures, ranging in spikes, scales, gills, and shape! In the distance, there even loomed the massive silhouette of the great Whale Shark, which was covered in the shiny armor o smaller fishes. After the die, I was given a brief lesson of Maldivian Biology and learned much as the biologist and I walked along the trail in the jungle, trying (desperately) to avoid the giant spiders which lurked there.

I met with the Arabian locals today. These people were not like the usual Muslims. They were dressed in garbs which flowed, and were wrapped in colors too difficult to describe. They spoke of wisdom, and of the land which they solely occupied. Throughout the day I walked through this Arabian community seeing the changes of structures, and the incorporations of light.
I left the tribe with myself wrapped in a colorful scarf, Henna tattoos now fill my arm, running their beautiful markings on my skin.

By way of the Caterman, I stepped on shore Baa Atoll. Here, I went into the Four Seasons Landaa Giraavaru, where lush plants stood and birds sang. In the beautiful garden, I dined on fine cheese ad fruit as I felt the splash of running Koi. I was even able to step in with these Koi, as part as a healing ritual. Their tiny mouths soothed me, of pains I never knew I even had.

This is my last day, but I don't want to leave. I fund solace here, I was relaxed, and I will miss the warm sand under my feet, and the spiders I had to avoid, and the people I met, and the cave's I 've seen, and everything else only Maldives can give...
