Day 63: Farming duties

Rockhampton, 10.13.2019

We had a slight lie in this morning before heading out to round up the horses with Lin and her colleague Stu. We boarded a truck along with the other guests that were staying at the farm. These people were a group of French Harley Davidson drivers who quite frankly were very annoying, just typically French really. Sinead and I weren’t a fan of their stereotypical dirty old French man behaviours. Trying to ignore the French we had a great morning touring around the farm in the truck, it was a beautiful day. This ride allowed us to appreciate the actual size of the farm, it was 5km x 2km, so so big! The land however was incredibly dry from the lack of rain that they had had. It almost looked as if we could have been on an African safari! After gathering up the horses and then feeding them some minerals, it was time to collect the chickens eggs. We collected around a dozen and went back later that day to collect another dozen! After putting on a load of laundry and hanging it out to dry in the sunshine, Sinead, Tessa and I went for a swim in the pool. And what a surprise, one of the French men decided to join us, typical! In the afternoon we helped Carl to move some cows and separate them into different fields for mothers with babies and cows without babies. We had another chilled evening after a long day in the heat. Sinead and I stayed behind to feed the calves some milk while the others went to watch the sunset. We’d had enough of the French men for one day!! Carl cooked us steaks for our evening meal which were so yummy! Headed back to our cabin for an early night after Sinead and I had watched a couple more episodes of Love Island.
