Day 100: Reunited with Lucie!

Today we left the hostel at 7am. Our bus driver Guy, was very strict with timings so you couldn't be a minute late! Our first stop today was at an old gold mine, where we took the opportunity to do a short 30 minute morning walk. It was really beautiful! We then hopped back onto the bus. Today I was leaving the Kiwi Bus for a couple of days to meet up with Lucie, who now lives in New Zealand with her boyfriend Daniel.

The bus dropped me off at Hamilton Airport where Daniel and Lucie were waiting for me. I hadn't seen Lucie for a year so it was so so good to finally be reunited with her! We drove back to their house, which was so lovely and cute, far nicer than hostels and then in the afternoon Luce took me to Hamilton Gardens. This was a great place to stroll around and have a good catch up as it was so peaceful and relaxing. We had so much to talk about but it felt like we'd never been apart! In the evening, we headed off to Raglan which is their nearest beach town and is very popular with surfers.

We bought some fish and chips and then we headed up to the top of a hill to eat them and watch the sun setting over the ocean. It was such a beautiful view that I'll remember forever. We drove down to where the surfers practice and it was great just to sit and watch their talent. We drove home once the sun had set and then had a few drinks in the evening at their house with a few of Daniels friends.
