Day 116: A very wet Milford Sounds

Milford Sounds, 12.05.2019

6am start this morning to journey to Milford Sounds. The weather again wasn't ideal but with limited time left in Queenstown we just had to go for it. The drive to the sounds took around 5 hours, and despite the rain, the scenery was beautiful. As we got closer to Milford, there was snow lying on the roads and there was so many waterfalls from the rain running down the rock formations. We boarded the boat in the rain and we were all so cold even though we were sat indoors on the boat. The boat ride was around 1.5 hours long. It was very beautiful however the cold, wet and windy atmosphere took the edge off it slightly. Meg and I went outside at one point to take a look at the view and we nearly got blown over by the wind! After the boat ride we had to head back on our 5 hour drive in order to get back to Queenstown. None of us could be bothered to cook tonight so we went to a cafe called the Big Fig to have dinner there. Tonight, our friends from another bus behind us were arriving in Queenstown! They were doing the bar crawl that we did the other night so we met them in some of the bars. I was so glad we could reunite with them before I left Queenstown.
