Day 112: Helicopter cancelled :(

Today we woke up early to find out that our Heli Hike up to the glacier had been cancelled. The weather was really overcast and raining so it wasn't too much of a surprise but I was very disappointed all the same. Unfortunately, there was not much else to do in Franz Joseph and with the rain being so heavy this limited our options even more so. Meg, Johnny and I decided that it would have to be a Netflix kind of day today so we retired to our room and had a chilled one. It was quite nice to just do nothing after been so busy and on-the-move lately. I started 'The Crown' series on Netflix which I got into quickly. We started playing some Christmas songs in the room given that it was now December, and none of us were feeling christmassy at all! For lunch I had leftover gnocchi from last night. The rain was so so heavy, this was the first bit of bad weather I had really seen while I had been in New Zealand. This evening the hostel put on an all you can eat pizza feast so we went to that and then had a couple of drinks after dinner. Maddie and I were craving chocolate so we headed to the shop quickly before it shut.
