Our hotel is very comfortable and this Boxing Day is a very special one as Anna suggested a few months ago that she had found a trip to Salzburg that had involved going up into the Austrian mountains to have a sleigh ride. So with a bit of investigating a trip was booked. Then I decided we should stay in Salzburg for a couple nights before and after the day trip.

We caught a bus up to Ramsau am Dachstein visited the village church and walked around before heading into a nice cosy restuarant for lunch. A sleigh ride then followed for a few hours across snowy fields with 9 of us being pulled by 2 very big, strong horses. The scenery was spectacular…snow covered fields all around. At nice afternoon tea of apple strudel was then on the afternoon’s agenda while the horses had a rest. I gave our driver 2 apples for the horses and she was amazed and became very friendly to us after that. Sleighing in the snow was a very different experience and we were glad to have shared the afternoon together doing something very different for Boxing Day…no Sydney to Hobert yacht race watching for us today!!
