Sue and Mike to UK & Munich

We enjoyed a visit to the wonderful transport museum with Sean and Michaela. It was amazing to see all the early cars, trains, bikes etc. I thought some of them looked really cute or very odd. It was interesting to see the wheel display on the history of wheels since the first Sumerians developed a wooden wheel. We wandered through the 3 halls and then Sean and Michaela took us over to the huge statue of Bavaria which looks over the Oktoberfest site. We had no idea how vast the festival is and were interested that they take down all the stalls every year and then put them back up. Huge job to do that. The Tallwood festival was on there earlier in December. Fine sunny day to look over the site.

We also did a bit of dunting and Mike found a nice pair of shoes with Sean’s guidance and I bought a lovely pair of Josef Seidel lace up

sneakers in a jade green, 30% off as it is sale time and the shoes are so comfortable. Sean took us to his favourite shops and we bought him 4 different steel chair legs from a very cool shop so that he can make a bench for 2 people to sit at their new dining table. The legs are 4 different colours to create a Mondrian effect. He said he will ask Fred for help as he has the woodwork tools.

We walked around Karlsplatz and saw the ice skaters enjoying the ice rink plus the Christmas markets were open. We had an amazing afternoon tea at a gorgeous cafe with superb cakes that looked like works of art. We had a beerentarte - raspberries/blackberries and a creamy filling and a cherry lady that looked like a amazing creation of biscuits sandwiched with cream and a lovely filling. We only bought 2 with 4 coffees and they were very rich and rich in $$$$!

We returned to Sean and Michaela’s flat for an early dinner…yummy

cooking from the kinder and then we reluctantly went back to Fred’s flat as we had to pack up and do some housework before leaving tomorrow. So sad to say goodbye, but nice to know they are very happy and so well set up in their flat and with life in Germany.

Anna is in Dublin, Ireland and has been visiting favourite places today as well as enjoying Irish accents. She hopes to perfect hers while there…can you imagine…she will be an Irish lady on her return to Aus. We still can’t get over the short daylight hours in Munchen! Home soon to longer days x
