Sue and Mike to UK & Munich

We said our goodbyes to Cathy and Charles after another delicious cooked breakfast and a mad time trying to pack our bags. At least they will be lighter once we have seen Sean and Michaela and given them various things.

It was an easy drive to Manchester so we decided to have a stop over in Chester. It brought back memories of first visiting there in late December 1977 on our honeymoon. That was when we first met Cathy and her family at Macclesfield and stayed with them for a few nights. I could remember the lovely old black and white buildings and the majestic cathedral where Mike used his little mini tripod to take photos of the stained glass windows in the church.

Leaving Oswestry for Manchester

Manchester

There was a school service on at the cathedral and loads of people at the Christmas markets. It is a very attractive town centre. We walked around a bit then found a cute coffee shop (Huxley Cafe and Bar) at the town clock gate on the ancient city walls. Time again for coffee and scones and maybe a mince pie!!

Another short drive on the motorways and we found the Clayton Hotel next to the airport for our one night stay. Our flight is at 7.15am with Lufthansa so we had to be up at 4am and get the bus (one minute ride) to the airport. Farewell UK.
