1. Sleep in a hanging tent between the trees

At the Schluchsee lake in the Black Forest you sleep in a tent that is suspended between three spruce trees. On clear evenings you can zip the roof of the tent and look out of your bed at the starry sky. In the morning you are woken up by the song of the forest birds and the smell of pine in the morning. The hanging tents are suitable for two people and can be booked from May to October.

2. Stay in a tree house or gypsy caravan at Tripsdrill Nature Resort

In the middle of the forest lie the twenty tree houses and twenty shepherd's huts of Tripsdrill Nature Resort . The fairytale tree houses offer space for up to six people and are fully equipped. There is even a TV and minibar. From your veranda you look out over the treetops and you can relax with the sounds of the forest. Do you prefer to stay closer to the ground? Then the shepherd's huts are something for you. These gypsy wagons have a sitting area, refrigerator and a private garden. Both types of accommodation have heating, so you can also go there for a winter adventure. As a guest, you get free breakfast and access to the wildlife park on the site.

 3. Stay overnight in a Ravensburger themed house

In the Ravensburger Spieleland theme park you will stay in accommodations with a Ravensburger theme. The theme park on Lake Constance is all about Ravensburger puzzles and toys. The wooden holiday homes in the park are also themed around famous characters. Each house is unique and suitable for up to six people. You can also stay in a safari tent or your own camper. With your stay you will receive free breakfast and access to the theme park.

4. Sleep in the hayloft of the Fischer holiday farm

In the Black Forest, you are very welcome to stay at the Fischer family farm . Bring your own sleeping bag and find a spot in the attic with the children. In the shared bathroom, you can freshen up in the morning with spring water from the farm's ground. Would you like to taste local specialities during your stay? On request, the family organises a barbecue and cooking lessons where you can learn to prepare local specialities such as Speckrahmkuchen. You are welcome in the attic from May to October. The rest of the year, you can book one of the more luxurious holiday homes.

5. Choose a unique stay at Hofgut Hopfenburg

If you want to stay at the Hofgut Hopfenburg holiday park in the Swabian Alb, you have a wide choice of accommodation types. Will you go for a tepee, yurt, gypsy caravan, eco-friendly tiny house, safari tent or circus wagon? Or will you bring your own camping equipment? Admire the colourful camping equipment and go on an adventure in the surrounding UNESCO World Heritage landscape. Afterwards, enjoy treats from the local bakery and farm shop.

6. Stay in a wooden barrel with a fantastic view

Sleeping in a wooden barrel on a hill is something you have to experience once in your life. At the Haberjockelshof organic farm near Lake Titisee, you can stay in a large, barrel-shaped wooden hut. The charming huts are suitable for up to four people and have a heated living room. From the garden chairs next to the hut, you can look out over the hills of the Black Forest and the farmer's cows grazing in the meadows. This is the perfect place to enjoy your breakfast with regional products in the morning. You can stay in these unique huts between May and October.

7. Feel like you're abroad in Germany

In the village of Rust lies Europa-Park, an amusement park with a European theme. The more than one hundred attractions are divided into fifteen European themes. One moment you imagine yourself in the United States and the next moment you walk into Spain. Themed hotels are spread throughout the park. Soak up Italian culture in the Colosseo theme hotel or sleep in the medieval castle Castillo Alcazar. Or how about Hotel Bell Rock, in the style of the New England explorers. The children can enjoy themselves in the play corner and with entertainment from the staff, while you relax in the lounge. A nice bonus with your stay: as a hotel guest you get access to the attractions in the park before opening time.

8. Glamping in the Black Forest

At over 750 metres above sea level, you can glamp in the tents of Glamping WiesenBett . The tents have wooden floors and are like a house with canvas walls. The wooden furniture and box bed provide a unique (farm) experience. There are two types of tents: lodge tents and luxury lodge tents. Both have six sleeping places, but the former has no electricity and is atmospherically lit by candlelight. In the evening, you can light a fire in the fireplace in the middle of the living room. The more luxurious tents do have electricity and are furnished a bit more comfortably. On the farm, you can cuddle animals, buy regional products and register for activities such as horse riding and painting.

9. Sleeping in the open air in the Black Forest

Are the above accommodations too luxurious for you and do you prefer to go back to basics? Then camping at one of the off-grid camping sites in the Black Forest is really something for you. Walk with your camping gear on your back to one of the nine specially designated camping sites. Each site has a campfire site and a toilet and offers space for up to three tents. Here you will experience a (legal) wild camping experience without having to do your business in the bushes. You can go there between May and October and you must book in advance to ensure that you have a spot.
