I love impressionist artwork. I have always loved the bright and beautiful brush strokes that give the piece texture. I am not as educated on Impressionism as I would like to be but I do highly admire the artwork. Impressionism went against the normal style and bounds of painting during that time period. It was very much looked down upon. The Salon was an exhibit where many different artists would have their art pieces showcased and sold. This is where Impressionism slowly began to become popular and well liked. In Musee d'Orsay there is a whole floor filled with Impressionist artists. I walked along observing so many wonderful pieces of art work. The beautiful colors all brought out by the image the artist was conveying in each piece. I slowly went along in art heaven while also capturing photos of other people because their expressions were too beautiful not to capture. It is ironic though because my favorite piece wasn't in a frame. I remember looking at this one painting when I turned around and there she was. My heart beat fast and my eyes watered. There stood La Petite Danseuse (The Small Dancer) with such grace and poise. Her eyes closed, shoulders back, and dainty feet pointed she stood amidst the crowd. She was beautiful. She spoke to me on many different levels. Levels I'm not even sure how to put into words, but that is the beauty of art. Art can move us to tears for simply being. La Petite Danseuse was my favorite because even though her frame was small her essence screamed grace and courage. She stood firm but peaceful ready to loose herself in what she loved while moving an entire audience. I hope one day I can stand firm and loose myself in the gifting God has given me with courage and grace just
