My first impression of the church was some of the leaders who greeted us or asked if we had just arrived. Immediately I realized how generous and kind everyone was upon my first week. I was so humbled by there helpfulness and serving heart. If there was anything we needed they were more than happy to try and help.
I am learning so much from the church. Every week they unknowingly teach me what it looks like to be the hands and feet of Jesus. The church's heart is to love people the way Jesus loves and it is so evident. The people were so welcoming and inviting. It helped a lot while we were adapting to the culture. There are always people at the church helping, serving, or just hanging out. It has made it such a welcoming environment.
I wasn't quite sure what to expect on this trip. I knew that this trip was going to impact me in many ways but I wasn't sure what it was going to look like as a whole. Which is kind of nice because I came with very flexible expectations. The church though has blown my mind. I love worshiping in a different language and the atmosphere here every time I serve or attend a service. I help serve in the café two Sundays a month.
One thing that I really enjoy is that the church is very diverse ethnically and in age. It is really cool to see one body under Christ serve and praise Him. It has shown me that the church is for everyone. The church isn't separate ages, separate ethnicities, or separate denominations. The church is one and we're suppose to be unified.
I've learned so much from the church here already. I'm excited to serve and grow even more in the next few months.
