Arenal Hanging Bridges
At the beginning of the 21st century, the family decided to open this natural forest sanctuary to the public, and they hired a company in order to develop the Hanging Bridges of Arenal eco-tourism project, which would allow thousands of people to enjoy the forest’s beauty comfortably and safely.
On the 10th of December we went to visit this amazing place. Here, different ecosystems come together forming a transition vegetation belt with a high level of biodiversity that can be found along the border between two types of forests: upland and lowland, bringing together species from both areas.
It was an hike of approximately two hours. The trail was about three kilometers long, with six large expansion bridges which gave exceptional views over the rainforest and the volcano.
If you visit this park in the morning, there is a better chance of seeing more animals, rather than visiting it in the afternoon. During our visit we have seen the following animals: a snake, monkeys and a lot of different insect. A good way to spot these animals is to hire a guide. These guides walk around with specials binoculars to help to spot them.
The thing you can do to help this park, staying as beautiful as it is right now, is the following; do not leave anything behind apart from your footsteps. Do not touch anything, without the knowledge of a guide, because it can damage the natures eco-system.
