Europe

Today we took a ferry to a small island off the coast of Dubrovnik called Lokrum, about a 15 minute ride. At this time of year, the line to get on the ferry is long and ferries are packed like sardines. But once you get to the island there is plenty of room to spread out and explore ruins or sun on Little Rock beaches with ladders to help you get in and out of the almost unbearably cold water. The water is super refreshing in the intense heat. After baking in the sun, Eric and I walked the perimeter of the island on a path partially shaded by trees.

We returned to the city and had an incredible lunch of steamed mussels and beers – our reward after our long walk on Lokrum. Kamenice Restaurant in the Old City for great steamed mussels! Then we returned to our Airbnb to relax for a few hours.

At around 7:30pm we took a taxi about 15 minutes north of the city to an awesome restaurant called Amfora. Dined on Greek and Middle Eastern-inspired dishes of falafel and lamb kabobs with tzatziki. A nice (and much needed) break from all of the fish we have been eating while on Croatia!
