The Colosseum is a big amphitheater and there is always such a big crowd of people waiting to get inside. There were arches marked from the numbers I - LXXVI (1- 76) to enter in free of charge and once inside you get to see the enormous view of where the games were going to be held and how round the Colosseum is. There are different levels to sit inside, the second level was for the upper-class, the third level was for ordinary citizens, and the fourth level was for women and the poor. The emperor has one space dedicated for him and from there he gets to see everything and control what is going to happen during the games. The crowd during these games was always ecstatic and seemed to make the emperor happy. What was shocking was that the crowd also determined the fighters' death or not. Sometimes the emperor would accept the gladiators' death and other times the emperor will decide to spare his life, mostly because the gladiator was the crowd's favorite to watch the fight. Not only were their gladiators (the men who fought in the arena) but there were animal fights as well and it was quite gruesome seeing animals fight and there were a lot of deaths of animals inside the Colosseum. Inside the Colosseum, you see many arches and columns of different types. The architecture is all very nice, also in the arena, there are sewage drains for whenever the emperor would like a sea battle or to keep the arena from flooding. However, although the emperor controlled much of what went on in the Colosseum, it is a monument for the Roman people and many Romans go to the colosseum for many events that are not gruesome, it is a place to unify, to celebrate, and to remember.
