Roman Empire

While visiting Rome I noticed that the statue of Augustus (The first emperor of the Roman Empire) was so unique. It is a full-length portrait of him standing with one arm pointing towards a direction which means he is leading his army, and he is shown barefooted to depict himself as a hero or some may consider as a god. The statue is made of white marble and it shows Augustus being the commander of the army and in military clothing in a relaxed stance carrying a baton on the other side of his hand. Augustus is known to be a great leader of the Roman Empire, being the first emperor of the Roman Empire and making a lot of changes to help better the Empire and to be a key responsibility of the Pax Romana. The golden age of Rome or a miracle some would say was because of Augustus not wanting to focus on keep invading other countries and primarily focused on rebuilding the once was a republic. Also since he has his statue he did help rebuild and reform many temples and wanted the people in the empire to reawaken the importance of religion and therefore with much being rebuilt he eventually would have his statue with cupid riding on a dolphin (which was Venus's patron animal) alongside of him because Augustus family was descended from the god of Venus. Going on with what a great leader Augustus was and how this statue of his shows how grateful people of the Roman Empire were of him he did help out a lot with the economy of the empire and even has coins of his image on them. The statue is a divine piece of art and shows how creative the Romans are toward architecture and much more.
