South Africa

The Cape of Good Hope is the southwestern most tip of Africa. Discovered by Portuguese explorer Bartholomeu Dias, it was originally called the Cape of Storms because of the wind and inclement weather that could occur offshore.

It is home to 250 species of birds including African penguins, ostrich, and the sacred ibis. Bontebok and eland are commonly seen, as well as Cape Mountain Zebra. Baboons are also common in the area and have evolved to recognize tour buses as sources of food.
