We got up early to depart for the airport at 5:30am. We said goodbye to Des and flew back to Johannesburg. There, we were met by Charles Sayers. One of the travelers in our group lost his wallet. While it's unknown if he left it on the plane or if it was stolen, it was a reminder to our entire group to guard our valuables.

We got on the bus and started the drive to Mpumalanga, stopping at a "convenience stop" that had animals -- our first view of what was to come.
