The morning started off rainy and foggy, but our group was on the road by 8:00am. The road was long and windy, but very scenic. Desmond gave us the following highlights:

Camps Bay - Miami of Cape Town. home to Foreign and African heads of state.

Still part of the Table Mountain National Park. No building are allowed except for the 12 Apostles Sp.

Llando neighborhood is home to Madonna and Val Kilmer

Hout Bay - Means "wood bay". Working harbor with their own passport. Rivalry with Cape Town.

Chapmans Peak Drive is similar to the Alfami Coast in Italy and claims to be one of the world's most scenic drives. There are 114 curves in total between Noordhoek and Hout Bay.

The biggest waves in South Africa are up to 100 feet. Surfers may have to hold their breath for up to 5 minutes before they resurface again from "dungeon waves".

Buses have to travel a specific route. One way in, another out. The road is not wide enough for 2 to pass.

The closest land mass is Antarctica which is 6,000 kilometers away.

Good area to grow white wine. There are 5 different soil types.

All water off the Cape of Good Hope is the Atlantic Ocean. Contrary to popular belief, it is NOT where the Indian Ocean meets the Atlantic.

Bellows Rock has sunk over 100 ships, including the Lusitania.
