We checked in to the Premier Winkler around 4pm, just in time to depart on the night safari. We were all a bit overtired from traveling all day, and possibly a bit cranky from the hot bus ride.

Two vans arrived to pick up those departing on the night safari. Given the aforementioned, we took one of the vans not starting in good nature. Soon enough, we were underway for our first safari adventure.

Our first stop was near a watering hole where we were served snacks, brandy, and Amarula.

We saw several impala, rabbits, and an alleged chameleon, but the true story from the trip came when the other safari vehicle broke down. Our driver, not recognizing the number on his cell phone, refused to answer the call for help. 15 minutes later, he discovered the situation, and we went to the rescue.

It wasn't as exciting as we had all anticipated, but there were a lot of laughs. The hot dinner back at the lodge, and an early bedtime, was what we all needed.
