It is approximately 55 hours since we've landed at MSP, and the first few days have been a whirlwind of activity in getting ourselves reintegrated into our Eagan life. We pulled up to the house in an Uber to find our driveway wonderfully plowed by our neighbor's son and the house intact and exceptionally clean, but only 41 F inside. We managed to disarm the security system and heat up the house and have most of the plumbing function. I did have to Uber to the grocery store the first day as our car battery was drained, but that's minor. Our beds. Our bathroom(s). Clothes other than those we packed. And lots of snow! The first day I spent running errands trying to get the kids ready for school on Monday (Fiona is hoping to surprise some of her friends, so if you have someone in 8th grade at DHMS, don't share this news!); no one had shoes that fit, or winter gear (everyone in MN can tell you the futility of finding winter boots for sale in late February), or pants for my long-legged daughter, or school supplies. Scott has been going through six months of mail and fixing the plumbing that didn't immediately cooperate. We went to karate and soccer the second day, and now the old folks are at home on a Saturday night while the kids are out with friends. We are thoroughly ditched, but that's okay after 5.5 months together.
We feel extremely privileged, blessed, lucky, fortunate. We wouldn't have changed a day in this journey. We had a terrific time, and I hope the kids remember it for the rest of their lives. Scott and I certainly will.
