Maui

I wish that I'd been able to title this post"Snorkeling with Sea Turtles", but it didn't work out that way.

Today we rented snorkel gear and put our mad (OK, novice) snorkeling skills to the test at Ulua Beach. Ulua was recommended to us by another couple, and is supposed to be good for beginner snorkelers.

Now, I'm the type of person who gets nauseous on roller coasters. When we went on a cruise to the Bahamas for our honeymoon, I didn't feel so hot the entire trip.

Apparently I suffer from the same problem when snorkeling. I think it's due in large part to not being able to see the waves coming when my head is underwater. I persisted long enough to see some fish, but I knew that the longer I stayed in, the worse I would feel. It's too bad, because when we snorkeled in Cuba in a calm channel, it was my favorite part of the trip. I'll probably try again at another beach, since we have the snorkel gear for the rest of the week.

On the plus side, Bill had a pretty good time and saw a lot of fish.

And on the walk to and from the beach, we finally saw some sea turtles! They were hanging out by the rocks, minding their own business. No pictures to show, since we left our valuables back at the condo.

For dinner we went to Coconut's Fish Cafe, where everyone raves about the fish tacos. I guess I just haven't eaten enough fish tacos in life to fully appreciate what a good one tastes like. Bill had fish & chips (mahi mahi and ono) which he seemed to enjoy. The best part was the coconut shrimp that we had as an appetizer. We probably won't run back here for another meal though.

We capped off our evening with a moonlit walk along Sugar Beach.
