Ships log day 80

South Cina Sea, 24.03.2017

All at sea hot and sunny travelled 21,700 miles. Two thirds of our big adventure gone already. Yesterday our full day tour took us on a long journey through the Country to the Capital of Vietnam Hanoi for our tour of the city. We were lucky as we had front seats on the coach so could clearly see the Vietnamese and thier way of life. We saw a vast amount of people selling food, fruit and fish just laid out on the floor beside the road, no health and safety here. One culture fact that interested me was when someone dies the family bury them in their garden or on their piece of land, 3 years later dig them up to collect their bones wash and put them in a porcelain pot and re bury them as their final resting place, so graves were everywhere very strange. Didn't realize Vietnam was French so Hanoi had a French and Chinese feel to it. A very hustle and bustle city the traffic was chaotic with no rules and mainly mopeds and bikes, I kid you not there were women carrying huge bundles of more stuff on thier bikes than I could get in my car. The market was a spectacle, densely crowded, just as I imagined it would be. Went to Ho chi Minh mausoleum, and the prison were they kept all the American pilots and how they tortured them. Very little religion here 85 per cent no religion and they are a communist society but again hate the Chinese who keep wanting to take over their country. We enjoyed our experience here, sail away and early night. A restful day today just a couple of lectures and getting ready for our visit tomorrow to Chan May again in Vietnam. Photo of Ho Chi Minh Mausaleum and Temple of Litreture and Confusiosism.
