John and Brens Big Adventure
In Oman Salalah on the boarder with Yemen very hot and sunny, a very pleasant 35 degrees, in the summer it can reach 50 degrees. This is in the biblical area, and our tour took us to a Frankincense orchard ( I bet like me you didn't know it grew on trees). They use it mainly in perfume, medicine, oil for burning. Then to the tomb of the profit Job, then to a beautiful beach. The place is so different to anything we have seen, it is dry with very little vegetation and camels everywhere which they use for meat, milk, racing and hilarious to see them racing, with no jockey very popular sport here. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and surprised how amazing the mountain scenery was. It is easy to see what a difference having a drop of oil makes, the Sultan's rule and no need for democracy here as the wealth is shared amongst everyone, and no one wants any change to this, and why not as they all get given a plot of land to build there house on for free, 30 year interest free loans and no deposit, for materials, no tax, no national insurance, free water, no unemployment, a fantastic infrastructure, free health care, free schools, and university, benefits for everything, cheap petrol and cars, a very happy lot. 4 days at sea now to eat all our Easter eggs.
