PURE INDULGENCE
Situated on Deck 9 Deck 9 with the best view, full length windows to the oceans is Cunard’s Mareel beauty salons.

Hair Salon, Pedicure/Manicure reclining chair/foot bath all situated at the bow of the ship.
The massage/treatment rooms are also in this section. There is also an indoor spa, thermal pool and fitness gym (though I did not visit those!). The services provided are so good for the body and the mind and I made appointments to ensure I stayed groomed, relaxed, refreshed and healthy body & mind. So, so good.

I enjoyed a Thai Remedial Facial, Hot Stones and Aroma Massage, Fire & Ice Pedicures and Manicures, Hair treatment, Cut and Blow Dry. Made new friends, Jocelyn (from Philippines), my Nail Technician who took an instant like to me as her mother’s name is Susan. The second Nail Technician from Jamaica named Marie, who I will visit again in December as she is staying on. Klaudia, my beautician, from Poland. She too will be still onboard in December so I will meet ‘old friends’ when I have my next visits to Mareel. My hairstylist was Sara, from Scotland.

Phil also had a hair cut while onboard, a male, Joben from the Philippines attended him. All very friendly, all contributed to our well-being.

On Deck 11 also facing the bow is the Queen/Princess Lounge, just outside the Princess Grill and Queen Grill restaurants. This is an area for those staying in Princess or Queen StateroomsPrincess/Queen Staterooms, with a ‘secret key‘ that allows use of the ‘selected’ elevator to Deck 11. All very fancy, fancy and the butt of comments from other passengers denied this access key.
Interesting Facts:
Crew: Generally the stewards attending us in Staterooms and those in the dining sections sign up for nine months. Then Cunard fly them all to their various home ports around the world. They have four months ”at home” and most we spoke to re-sign for further nine months. Some have been under contract with Cunard for 19-23 years. They speak highly of the conditions and the money that enables them to support their families, educate their children and achieve “dreams”. It seems to us a great life, albeit they are removed from families however they keep in touch with family via wi-fi (when available).

Queen Elizabeth is sailing this itinerary for the last time this season. Once we reach Barcelona, she will sail around the Mediterranean until early December when she will be cruising around Australia-New Zealand for our summer. In Melbourne in December we will board again for our Christmas New Zealand 14 night cruise.
Then she returns to Vancouver-Alaska for northern hemisphere’s summer.
