This morning, we got on a bus and traveled 3 hours to Nottingham. Yes, Nottingham is about where Robin Hood took place. We toured the National Justice Museum here for many hours. We first took place in the mock court case of Joan Philips, a highway woman. We acted out the case in the original court room, and then learned the verdict. She was sentenced to hanging like with most offenses. Hanging was more common a punishment for burglary and highway robbery than with murder. We then toured the entire underground prison and dungeon system. Many people believe the prison to be haunted. One of the girls in our group believes to have her hair stroked, but I am a little skeptical of her. After our private tour, a few people and I explored the area. We saw the Nottingham Castle/ palace wall which dates back to the 11th century. We ended up at the eating at place called "Ye Olde Trip to Jerusalem" which was originally established in 1189. The rooms are literally carved out of stone. We then got back on the bus and went to Leeds. We rested a while before a few of us ventured out for dinner and exploring.
