Ships log day 65

Bali Indonesia, 10.03.2017

In Bali Indonesia and the Indian ocean, we are here for 2 days so more time to see Bali. Very hot and sunny travelled 18,000 miles. When we pulled into Bali the harbour was alive with activity like we have not seen before, there must be hundreds of speed boats, banana boats, paragliders, wind surfers looks like a fun place. Our tour took us to an elephant safari park where we mounted an elephant which took us on a 45 minutes trudge through the tropical jungle. This was a trip Bren was dreading as she had doubt about mounting the elephant, but all was well and we really enjoyed it, another memorable experience. Next we went into the jungle by foot and saw a lot of monkeys swinging around in the trees again in their natural environment, and something new for us. Sail away party and bed , a busy day. Look out there's a boring bit coming. Our impression of Bali, 90 per cent of the population is extremely religious, to the point of obsession. The people that can afford a home all have at least 3 temples or shrines in their garden and all have a number of religious statues that they give there offerings to at least 3 times a day. They spend a large amount of their humble wage on these offerings to the detriment of there own Comfort. But they seem a happy lot, rice fields, conicle hats, and lovely beaches. Tomorrow Java Indonesia.
