Day 6
Today we went to our first National Park and Monument. We drove the 28 mile road in the Petrified Forest, stopped at many sites, and went on a hike. It was a short hike but felt much longer due to the desert heat and high altitude. The kids were excited to get their first National Park Passport cancelations and to earn their first Jr. Ranger badges. We also stopped at the Walnut Canyon National Monument and hiked to the cliff dwellings.
Mileage-229
Hiking- 1.75 miles total; Crystal Forest Trail, Petrified Forest and Loop Trail, Walnut Canyon
Favorites- Petrified wood, petroglyphs, cliff dwellings, and lizards!
Overnight- Dead Horse Ranch State Park, AZ
