Day 7-
We decided to take a bit of a break from traveling today and stayed in the Sedona area. We spent the morning swimming at Slide Rock State Park. We had a bit of a scary moment this afternoon coming back from Sedona as a wildfire had started on the highway. When we got to the site of the fire the fire trucks had just arrived and there were flames in the median and on both sides of the road. We learned later that this happens frequently in this area and it was under control within a couple of hours. We spent the afternoon and evening in Jerome an abandoned copper mine town that is being revitalized. My favorite features of the town were the old hospital which is now a high end hotel and the Chief Surgeons house which is now an elite Bed and Breakfast. The kids favorite was the standing on the glass bridge over a 1600 ft mine shaft (they mostly thought it was fun because it scared their parents!).

Favorites- Road sliding and cliff jumping at Slide Rock State Park, AZ; The Audrey Head Frame, Jerome, AZ (site of the mine shaft)
