Day 17-
Today we visited the Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park, CO. This Canyon is different from others due to its steep jagged black cliffs. It also has a lot less people which we enjoyed. We hiked the Rock Rim Trail and several overlooks. We then headed towards Buena Vista, CO and stopped at the Continental Divide at Monarch Pass. We rode a gondola to the observation tower and Divide. The peak is at 12,000 feet elevation and was 58 degrees with 30 mile an hour winds. A big change from the desert conditions we have been experiencing!
Miles- 171 (This chapter's map shows travel for 6.22.18 and 6.23.18)
Hiking-2 miles Overnight- Buena Vista, CO
Favorites- Monarch Pass, CO
